0.1M Silver Nitrate preparation and standardization |
1.0 Scope: This procedure is applicable for preparation and standardization of 0.1M silver nitrate solution. 2.0 Apparatus:(0.1M silver nitrate) 1000ml and 250ml volumetric flasks. 250ml glass-stoppered, conical flask. 10ml and 50ml volumetric pipette 100ml graduated burette 3.0 Reagents: Silver nitrate AR grade Sodium chloride AR grade Acetic acid AR grade Eosin solution Methanol AR grade Preparation of reagents: Eosin solution: Dissolve 0.50012 gm of eosin in sufficient purified water to produce 100 ml. and store in a well-fitted transparent glass bottle. 4.0 Preparation: Take 17.00056 gm of AgNo3 in sufficient purified water/water for injections to produce 1000ml. Stir with magnetic stirrer hot plate, and titrate with the 0.1 M silver nitrate VS. Each mililitre of 0.1 M AgNo3 is equivalent to 0.005844 gm of sodium chloride. 6.0 Calculation: Wt. X 0.1 N =————————— V X 0.005844 Where, N = molarity of 0.1 M silver nitrate. W = weight of sodium chloride in gm V = Consume volume of 0.1M silver nitrate in millilitre To read this GTP click here Loss on Drying Test (LOD). 7.0 Storage: Store in well fitted transparent glass bottle. |
