1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for the routine cleaning and operation of Bio-Safety Cabinet. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the all the Bio-Safety Cabinet available in the microbiology lab. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Microbiologists personnel are responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this Standard operating procedure(SOP). 3.2 QC Head or microbiology head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this Standard operating procedure(SOP). 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 BSC : Bio-Safety Cabinet 4.2 IPA : Isopropyl Alcohol To read this SOP Click here SOP for Environment Monitoring In Microbiology Lab. 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 CLEANING 5.1.1 Clean the inner walls, grill and workbench of Bio-Safety Cabinet before commencement and after completion of each work with the help of a lint free cloth soaked in 70% filtered IPA. 5.1.2 Spray the disinfectant (in use) on the Bio-Safety Cabinet Bench. 5.1.3 Leave the surface for 5 minutes. 5.1.4 Mop the Bio-Safety Cabinet bench with the help of a lint free mopping cloth. 5.1.5 Do not spray the disinfectant solution on the grill. 5.2 Operation of Bio-Safety Cabinet 5.2.1 Fix the cord of the Bio-Safety Cabinet to the MAINS. 5.2.2 Switch ON the MAINS to which the Bio-Safety Cabinet electrical cord is attached. 5.2.3 Turn the toggle switch the Bio-Safety Cabinet to ON position. 5.2.4 Turn the toggle switch the lights to ON position. 5.2.5 Leave the Bio-Safety Cabinet in running condition for a few minutes. 5.2.6 If pressure reading on manometer is not achieved or any malfunctioning put a status label “Under Maintenance” and inform the Maintenance department for rectification. |
