1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for Handling of Scrap in Laboratory. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Handling of Scrap in Laboratory. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Quality Control Executive or senior officer is responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this SOP. 3.2 QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP(Standard test procedure). 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 The type of scrap shall be distinguished as solid waste, liquid waste, used reagent bottles / broken glassware. 5.2 Solid waste like used paper; powder etc. shall be collected in a wastebin. 5.3 Liquid waste like solution after analysis shall be collected in a closed vessel and to be sent to effluent treatment plant for disposal. 5.4 Broken glassware & used reagent bottles shall be collected in a bin, which shall be dedicated for same. 5.5 Collected scrap from the bin shall be transferred into a poly bag once in a day. 5.6 The collected scrap shall be deposited in the common scrap area, which shall be transferred latter on for destruction. |
