1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for cleaning, operation and calibration of incubators in Microbiology department. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for cleaning, operation and calibration of incubators. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Microbiologists are responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this Standard operating procedure (SOP). 3.2 QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 QC : Quality Control 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 CLEANING OF INCUBATORS 5.1.1 Switch OFF the mains of the incubator. 5.1.2 Disconnect the plug of the equipment. 5.1.3 Open the door and transfer the material into other incubator of equal temperature. 5.1.4 Take out the trays from the equipment and place it in a safe place. 5.1.5 With the help of lint free cloth and 2% Dettol clean the entire internal surface of the incubator and allow it to dry. 5.1.6 Keep the trays and the material back into the incubator. 5.1.7 Connect the plug of the equipment. 5.1.8 Switch on the main switch to which the equipment is plugged. 5.1.9 Switch ON the incubator. 5.1.10 Record the activities as per the Format No. XXX. 5.1.11 FREQUENCY: Once a Month. 5.2 PROCEDURE FOR THE OPERATION OF INCUBATORS 5.2.1 Ensure the power connection to the incubators. 5.2.2 Ensure that the current is sufficient by looking to the voltage stabilizer. 5.2.3 Switch ON the main switch provided with the controller panel box of the incubator. 5.2.4 Display unit in the control panel box will show the Set value temperature and Print value temperature of the incubator. 5.2.5 Switch on the heating and cooling buttons of the incubator. To Read this SOP Click here SOP for Procedure For Operation Of Emergency Shower. 5.3 SETTING OF TEMPERATURE DISPLAY 5.3.1 For setting of temperature Press the SEL icon on the temperature display panel. 5.3.2 Go to the option LOC and change the number to 0, which means open. 5.3.3 Come back to the original display by pressing him SEL button for few seconds. 5.3.4 Change the settings to the required temperature if necessary. Again lock the Display settings panel by entering to LOC 1. 5.4 CALIBRATION: 5.4.1 Take one calibrated glass thermometer; put it in the chamber of the incubator, without touching the mercury bulb to the metallic surface of the incubator. 5.4.2 Close the glass window and wait for 10 minutes to stabilize the temperature of thermometer with in the chamber. 5.4.3 Note the temperature readings of the display on the control panel box and the Thermometer through the glass window of the incubator. 5.4.4 The temperature difference between the display and thermometer should not be less than ± 1 degree Centigrade. 5.5 TEMPERATURE AND SAFETY ALARM SYSTEM CALIBRATION: 5.5.1 Calibration for both the systems is done by External Agency. 5.5.2 Frequency: Once in a Year. 5.5.3 Daily Temperature monitoring of Incubators as per the format XXX. |
