OPERATION AND CALIBRATION OF POTENTIOMETER |
1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for Operation and Calibration of Potentiometer (Metrohm Titrino Plus) in Quality Control Laboratory. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Operation and Calibration of Potentiometer being used in Quality Control Laboratory. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Quality Control Officer / Executive are responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this SOP. 3.2 QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 QC : Quality Control 4.3 QA : Quality Assurance 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 Procedure For Operation 5.1.1 Ensure that the working bench and surrounding of the instrument is cleaned. 5.1.2 Ensure for the availability of the power supply, instrument electric connectivity, vortex stirrer, titrator burette, electrode for aqueous titration, glass dispense tips and glass beakers. 5.1.3 Switch ON the instrument. 5.1.4 Standardize the instrument with the help of standard pH buffer solutions of 4.00, 7.00 and 9.20. 5.1.5 Prime the instrument to rinse the path by titrant and to remove the air bubbles trapped in tubings. 5.1.6 Select the standard methods for different types of titrations or manual titration may also be done. 5.1.7 Take out the prints of the titration performed. To Read this SOP Click Here SOP for Handling of Hazardous Chemicals. 5.2 Procedure For Calibration 5.2.1 Operate the instrument as per the procedure for operation. 5.2.2 For calibration of the instrument following parameters are to included as per Calibration of Automatic Potentiometeric Tirator. 5.2.2.1 pH calibration 5.2.2.2 Burette volume check 5.2.3 Limits 5.2.3.1 pH = ± 0.05 5.2.3.2 mv = ± 30mv 5.2.3.3 Slope = slope of electrode should more than 95% 5.2.3.4 Volume or weight = ± 0.5% 5.2.4 Frequency of calibration is Quarterly and after each maintenance. |
