1.0 OBJECTIVE:
1.1 To describe the instruction for preparation of chemical dosing solution in EDI Plant.
2.0 SCOPE:
2.1 This procedure is applicable for the preparation of chemical dosing solution in EDI Plant.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1 DM Plant Supervisor is responsible for Preparation of solution.
3.2 Head of Engineering Department responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP

5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Preparation of Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl)Dosing Solution :50Ltr
5.1.1 Take 25 Ltr. Fresh DM water in dosing tank.
5.1.2 Add 25 Ltr. Fresh Sodium Hypochlorite (6% weight/volume Conc. approx.) In dosing tank & stir with the help of SS ladle.
5.1.3 Adjust dosing stroke rate such that free chlorine level approx. 3 – 5 PPM maintained at the outlet of the tank. This is daily checked by free chlorine test kit.
5.1.4 Daily Prepare and add fresh solution in the dosing tank.
5.1.5 Avoid low level dosing solution in dosing tank.
5.2 Preparation of SMBS (Sodium Metabisulphite (Na2S2O5) Dosing Solution: 50Ltr
5.2.1 Take 45Ltr. fresh DM water in SMBS dosing tank.
5.2.2 Take 4 kg SMBS powder & add 5 ltr. DM water in bucket & dissolve in DM water.
5.2.3 Transfer the solution in SMBS dosing tank.
5.2.4 Mix the solution in SMBS dosing tank with the help of SS ladle.
5.2.5 Approximately 3 PPM of SMBS solution will neutralize 1 PPM of free chlorine.
5.2.6 Adjust the dosing rate in such a way that water is Dechlorinated. (free chlorine in water Should be Nil)
5.2.7 Avoid low level situation in Dosing Tank.
5.3 Preparation of Antiscalant Dosing solution: 50Ltr.
5.3.1 Take 50Ltr. Fresh DM water in dosing tank.
5.3.2 Take 1Ltr. Antiscalant & add in Antiscalant dosing tank.
5.3.3 Mix the solution in dosing tank with the help of SS ladle.
5.3.4 Adjust the dosing rate such as a way that 55% dosing stroke through pump.
5.3.5 Avoid low level situation in dosing tank.
5.4 Preparation of Caustic solution: 50Ltr.
5.4.1 Take 50Ltr. Fresh DM water in dosing tank.
5.4.2 Take 1.5kg. caustic soda & add caustic dosing tank.
5.4.3 Mix the solution in dosing tank with the help of SS ladle.
5.4.4 Adjust the dosing rate such as a way that 55% dosing stroke through pump.
5.4.5 Avoid low level situation in dosing tank.
Frequency for preparation of chemical dosing solution: Daily or as when required
