1.1 To provide a procedure to dry silica gel bags.
2.0 SCOPE: –
2.1 This procedure is applicable for drying of all types of silica bags used as desiccants to protect the product from moisture.

5.0 Procedure:
5.1 Take out silica gel bags in tray of oven/dryer, spread them in the trays.
5.1.1 Load the trays in to oven / dryer.
5.1.2 Set the temperature of the oven / dryer at 105 + 5° C dig and dry the bags to drive out absorbed moisture for at least 4 hours. Give lot number (for example SG/001, SG/002, etc.).
5.1.3 After drying cycle is over take out silica gel bags while they are medium hot in double Polythene bags tightly close the polythene bags to avoid penetration of moisture from atmosphere. Affix label stating description detail and lot number.
5.1.4 While using Silica Gel Bags, ensure that they are not exposed to atmosphere for more than 5 minutes. For this they should be taken out in small quantities in a plastic containers keeping the remaining quantity air tight.
5.1.5 Maintain record of drying and usage in register. The register should have following entries.

5.1.7 Description of bags
5.1.8 Qty. Dried
5.1.9 Time of drying started
5.1.10 Time of drying completed
5.1.11 Temperature of Dryer at the start of drying time.
5.1.12 Temperature of drying at the end of drying time.
