Operation and Calibration Procedure of Leak Test Apparatus |
1.0 OBJECTIVE To lay down the procedure for operation and calibration of Leak Test Apparatus. 2.0 SCOPE This Standard test operator(SOP) is applicable for operation and calibration of Leak Test Apparatus Instrument in quality control lab. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY QC – Officer /Sr. Officer/ Executive and above. 4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY Head-QC 5.0 PROCEDURE 5.1 Operation procedure: 5.1.1 Fill the vacuum desiccators with distilled water and add few drops of methyl blue indicator. 5.1.2 Place the sample in jar containing enough water to cover the sample at least one inch of water (Measured from the top surface of package). Use a metal grid or screen to gold the sample submerged. 5.1.3 Connect the free-pin plug to 230 V AC power supply and switch ON the mains. 5.1.4 Display will show “LEAK TEST APPARATUS”. 5.1.5 Now press “START KEY” and set the desired time by pressing shift and change keys. 5.1.6 After setting the time press “ESC key” to save the timer. 5.1.7 Now again press START key, Display will show the timer (4:00). 5.1.8 Again, presses START key, Vacuum pump will start, and vacuum will start creating. 5.1.9 Press STOP key when desired vacuum range achieved (400mmHg). 5.1.10 Now timer will start automatically. 5.1.11 After completion of timer, buzzer will ring, and air will automatically release. 5.1.12 You can press ESC key to release the air manually. 5.2 Cleaning procedure: 5.2.1 Cleaning of leak test apparatus by using purified water and clean outer and inner surface with the help of lint free cloth. 5.2.2 Place the apparatus for dryness for half an hour. 5.2.3 After cleaning affix, the “cleaned” status label with signature as per format no. XXX. 5.3 Calibration procedure: 5.3.1 Vacuum gauge calibration done by external party after every year frequency. 5.3.2 Calibration of timer of leak test apparatus done by in-house by using pre-calibrated stopwatch after every year frequency. 5.3.3 Switch on main power supply and start the leak test apparatus. 5.3.4 Take pre-calibrated stopwatch and start timer of leak test apparatus and stop watch simultaneously. 5.3.5 Note the reading at intervals of 100 seconds, 200 seconds and 400 seconds respectively. 5.3.6 Acceptance criteria are±10 seconds for each interval. 5.3.7 Maintain the calibration record of timer is as per format No XXX. |
