1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down a procedure for Pest and Rodent control with a view to maintain hygiene and sanitation in the factory premises. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Pest and Rodent control. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Human Resources Executive. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 HR : Human Resource 4.3 QA : Quality Assurance 4.4 RM : Raw Material 4.5 PM : Packing Material 4.6 FG : Finished Goods 4.7 GMP : Good Manufacturing Practices 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 Pest and Rodent control is done by us. To read this SOP click here SOP for Entry And Exit Of Staff And Visitors. 5.2 Pest Control: 5.2.1 Pest control shall be carried out at the specified areas in the premises. 5.2.2 It shall not be carried out at RM storage, PM storage, FG storage area and production and packaging areas. 5.2.3 If shall be ensured that after pesticide spraying the area shall be closed for 8-12 hrs. 5.2.4 Drains / Manholes should be properly sprayed with pesticides to prevent entry of cockroaches and other pest from drain points. 5.2.5 Frequency – Twice in a week in summers, thrice in a week in rainy season and once in a week in winters or as per the requirement. 5.3 Rodent Control: 5.3.1 Area / points where rodent control is to be carried out shall be earmarked as following: 5.3.2 Red colour rectangle painted on floor indicates point where bait trays for rodent control shall be placed. These shall be marked at all the entry points of the main building. Similarly there shall be yellow colored triangles painted on floor inside the entry points of the main building where gum pads shall be placed for rodent control. The sign boards marked ‘POISON’ shall be provided at each location. These locations shall be identified on layout of each floor plan (schematic). 5.3.3 Frequency of rodent control – once in a week. 5.3.4 Schematic drawings of the areas for rodent control / gum pad and pest control is performed. 5.4 Precautions: 5.4.1 The pest control/rodent control shall be performed by our employee in supervision with House Keeping Supervisor. 5.4.2 Intimation shall be circulated to all the department heads intimating them for pest and rodent control operations to be carried out. 5.4.3 Following precautions shall be taken while carrying out pest and rodent control. 5.4.3.1 Use of hand gloves and face mask. 5.4.3.2 Air handling system shall be switched off where pest control is being carried out. 5.4.3.3 The material in bags / drums etc. should be closed with appropriate covers like polybags and lids in case of drums. 5.4.4 The containers / bottles containing insecticides and pesticides and devices used for pest control should be stored in designated place in the factory premise. 5.4.5 Before start of routine activities ensure that the area is properly cleaned. 5.4.6 The employees shall use appropriate equipment’s and clothing while performing pest and rodent control. 5.4.7 After carrying out pest rodent control the concerned supervisor / HOD shall be responsible for evaluation of his concerned area for presence of any dead or live insects, pest, rodent etc. and observation shall be recorded in the format and reports shall be reviewed and authorized by QA. 5.4.8 In case of any observation for live pest & rodent immediate corrective action and additional pest and rodent control shall be performed. 5.4.9 All necessary Antidotes shall be available in case of any emergency for treatment of poisoning due to pesticides as recommended by certified doctor. 5.4.10 In case of observation of dead pest or rodent it shall be carefully enclosed in a polybag and disposed off either by burying in ground or by incinerating out side the factory premises. |
