1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for Cleaning of Microbiology department. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Cleaning and Fumigation of Microbiology department. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Microbiologist is responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this SOP in Microbiology department. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 gm : Gram 4.3 ml : Millilitre 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 CLEANING OF FLOOR 5.1.1 Clean the floor with a lint free cloth. 5.1.2 Collect the accumulated dust and put it into the wastebin. 5.1.3 Mop the floor with diluted Savlon or Dettol solution twice daily. 5.1.4 The windowpanes and doors shall be cleaning with a clean duster or mopper in Microbiology department.. If required use soap solution or suitable solvent to remove the stains. To Read this sop click here SOP for Hold Time Study Of Products. 5.2 CLEANING OF WALLS 5.2.1 Clean the walls and corners at the ceiling by vacuum cleaner using nylon brush at the end of the vacuum pipe. 5.2.2 If the spots or stain remains on the wall, clean the same with diluted soap solution or by any suitable solvent 5.2.3 All instruments, working bench shall be cleaned at least daily with dry cloth. Before the starting the cleaning instrument ensures that it is switch off condition. 5.2.4 Vacuum cleaner may be used for cleaning the space behind the instruments and corners of working benches in Microbiology department. 5.2.5 While cleaning take precaution, not to disturb the electrical wiring of instruments and of draining connections in microbiology department. 5.3 FUMIGATION 5.3.1 Make ready all the materials required for fumigation. 5.3.2 Ensure that all the material is in closed condition in the lab. 5.3.3 Seal the gaps between the doors with an adhesive tape if required. 5.3.4 Fumigate the area by using 20 % verosil solution by fumigator. 5.3.5 Exit the area immediately. 5.3.6 Close the main door of the Microbiology laboratory and seal the gaps if any by using the adhesive tape. 5.3.7 Keep the display board “Area is under fumigation” on the door of controlled area. 5.3.8 Keep the area under fumigation in closed condition for overnight. 5.3.9 Fumigate the area once in a week. 5.3.10 Record the details of fumigation as per the format XXX. |
