Fogging In Microbiology Department |
1.0 OBJECTIVE To lay down a Procedure for fogging in microbiology department. 2.0 SCOPE This procedure is applicable for fogging in microbiology department in the Quality Control Department of Microbiology Area. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY • Microbiologist : is responsible for fogging in microbiology area as per SOP(Fogging In Microbiology Department). • Manager microbiology : is responsible for ensuring that the SOP(Fogging In Microbiology Department) is followed correctly 4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY • Department Head • Head Quality / QA 5.0 PROCEDURE(Fogging In Microbiology Department) 5.1 Fogging machine delivers ultra-low volume (ULV) application rate of chemical solution as per unit space/surface area in aerosol state. 5.2 Low flow rate (70-100ml/minute) produces a dry fog and fine droplets (6-10micron) 5.3 Larger flow rate (150-200ml/minutes) procedure larger droplets as wet fog. 5.4 Outer surface of the machine shall be sanitized with 70% IPA solution followed by dry mopping while transferring the unit from one area to another. 5.5 Fogger machine shall be transferred through dynamic pass boxes only from one area to another. 5.6 Before start fogging operation, check the cleaning of the particular area. 5.7 Stop the respective AHU of the area to be fogging. 5.8 Pictorial representation of the instrument is given in SOP. To read this sop Click here SOP for Cleaning, Operation and usage of dynamic pass box. 5.9 Prepare the required volume of fumigate solution 20% silivicide to the tank (maximum capacity of tank 5liter). 5.10 Plug power cord into power outlet. Ensure that the operating switch shall be in OFF position. 5.11 Place the fogger at a suitable place in the room with nozzle directed in desired position generally towards the corner at 45° outlet of the fogger machine (Spray nozzles) shall be directed in such a way so that the fine droplets of the disinfectant solution can be spread over the area uniformly. 5.12 Before switch “ON” the machine ensure that intake air filter is in its proper place and flow control valves is fully closed. 5.13 Fogger sucks air from rear end through the intake air filter; it prevents the particles to enter into the machine. 5.14 Switch “ON” the operating switch; fogger will start generating the fog. 5.15 Rotate the flow control valve center clockwise direction; fine fog of 6-10micron will start dispensed into the area. 5.16 Use safety goggles and other PPE at the time of operating the fogger machine. 5.17 Fogging shall be done only after completion of production activity or end of the shift. 5.18 Amount of the disinfectant to be fogged and the fogging time varies from one area to another. 5.19 Calculated amount of disinfectant shall be fogged for calculated time in an area. 5.20 For 1000ft3 or 28.32 m3 area 400ml of 20% silvicide solution (80ml concentration and 320ml Water for injection) shall be used and flow rate of the fogger shall be 70-100ml/minutes. 5.21 Quantity of disinfectant solution and the fogging time shall be as per the below table.3 |
