0.1M Lead Nitrate |
1.0 Scope: This procedure is applicable for preparation and standardization of 0.1M lead nitrate solution. 2.0 Apparatus: 2.1 1000ml volumetric flasks. 2.2 500ml glass-stoppered, conical flask. 2.3 20ml and 50ml volumetric pipette 2.4 100ml graduated burette 3.0 Reagents: 3.1 Lead nitrate AR grade 3.2 Disodium edetate AR grade 3.3 Hexamine AR grade 3.4 Xylenol orange To click this GTP click here Preparation and Standardization of 0.1M Sodium Thiosulphate. 5.0 Preparation: Dissolve 33.0 g of Lead (ii) nitrate in sufficient distilled water to produce 1000 ml. 6.0 Standardization: To 20 ml of the solution add 300 ml of distilled water and add about 50 mg of xyenol orange triturate and sufficient hexamine to produce a violet-pink colour. Titrate with 0.1 M disodium edetate(EDTA) VS until the colour changes to yellow. Each millilitre. of 0.1 M Pb(NO₃)₂ is equivalent to the 33.12 mg of Lead nitrate 7.0 Calculation: N1 = N2 x V2 / V1 N= 0.1 X V2 / 20 Where: N1= molarity of 0.1M Disodium Edetate in ml N2 = molarity of 0.1M Disodium Edetate in ml V2 = volume of 0.1 M Disodium Edetate in ml V1 = volume of 0.1M lead nitrate in ml. 8.0 Storage: Store in well fitted transparent glass bottle. |
