1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for the operation of colony counter microbiology department. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Colony Counter available in the Microbiology lab. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Microbiologist is responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this Standard operating procedure. 3.2 QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 LED : Light Emitting Diode 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 Plug the cord of the equipment to 220 V A/C supply. 5.2 Switch on the main electric switch. 5.3 Switch on the colony counter by bringing down the black knob. 5.4 Place the plate over the Gridded Square. 5.5 Adjust the lens. 5.6 Open the cap of the pointer pen and count the number of colonies by pressing against the bottom plate surface. 5.7 The LED of pen will start displaying the number of colonies. 5.8 After counting the colonies record the observations in the record. 5.9 Press the reset button and bring the LED display to 0000. |
