1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for preparation and usage of disinfectants in Microbiology Department. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the preparation and usage of disinfectants in Microbiology Department. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Microbiologist is responsible to followed procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this Standard operating procedure(SOP). 3.2 QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this Standard operating procedure. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 v/v : Volume /volume To Read this SOP Click Here SOP for Collection And Handling Of Control Sample. 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 Arrange required number of bottles for sterilization of disinfectants. 5.1.1 Filter concentrated disinfectant in to sterile screw cap bottles through sterile 0.45 membrane filters and label the bottle accordingly. 5.1.2 Use sterilized concentrated disinfectants with in 15 days from the date of sterilization. Label the screw cap bottles with the following details. Name of the Disinfectant (Concentrated) : Date of preparation : Use before : Prepared by : 5.1.3 Sterilize the purified water in screw cap bottles in a validated steam sterilizer. 5.1.4 Take required amount of concentrated disinfectant dilute it with sterile purified water. 5.1.5 Prepare the disinfectant solutions in squeeze bottles. 5.1.6 The concentrated disinfectants shall be diluted with the sterilized water as per the manufacturer’s instruction. 5.1.7 ISO PROPYL ALCOHOL 70 % v/v: Mix 30ml of sterile purified water to 70ml of IPA concentrated solution in a pre sterile measuring cylinder and store in to the squeeze bottle for routine usage. 5.1.8 After preparation of disinfectants the bottle should have the following details. Name of the Disinfectant (Diluted) : Concentration : Date of preparation : Use before : 5.1.9 Record the preparation of disinfectants in the format XXX. |
