1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down a procedure for the preparation of 70% v/v IPA used as disinfectants. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for formulation plant. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Trained production officer is responsible for preparation of IPA Solution as per the procedure mentioned in this SOP. 3.2 Production executive is responsible for implementation of the procedure as per this SOP. 3.3 Production Head is responsible for compliance of procedure as per this SOP. To read this SOP click here SOP for Handling Of Non-Confirming Material. 4.0 PROCEDURE: 4.1 Preparation of 70% v/v IPA Solution: 4.1.1 Measure the required quantity of Isopropyl Alcohol in a clean measuring cylinder. 4.1.2 Use freshly collected purified water for preparation of IPA solution. 4.1.3 Prepare IPA solution in a proportion of 70:30, isopropyl alcohol: water. 4.1.4 Assemble the filtration assembly; insert sterilized 0.45µ, 47 mm dia. membrane filter. 4.1.5 Connect the assembly to vacuum pump. 4.1.6 Turn ‘ON’ switch of vacuum pump. 4.1.7 Filter the prepared IPA solution. 4.1.8 Transfer the prepared IPA in the glass bottle. 4.1.9 Affix the label on the bottle with following information. 4.1.10 i) Name of reagent ii) strength iii) batch number iv) date of preparation v) use before date & vi) prepared by. 4.1.11 Batch numbering procedure shall be as follows : 4.1.12 XXA/YYYY, 4.1.13 Where, XX – shall be current month, A – shall be sequential number of preparation in current month and YYYY shall stand for the current year.
