1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down a procedure for cleaning of fuel storage tanks. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for all Fuel storage tanks. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Cleaning & Sanitization Procedure: Concerned Technician. 3.2 Implementation of cleaning and sanitization Procedure : Officer Engineering 3.3 Compliance of Cleaning & Sanitization Procedure: Head of Engineering Department. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 QA : Quality Assurance 4.3 CC NO : Change Control Number To read this SOP click here SOP for Preventive Maintenance For Air Compressor. 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 Ensure that the drain valve (if any) is opened. 5.2 Ensure that the main inlet water valve to the tank is closed 5.3 The person who gets down into the tank should be wearing a safety belt so that the may be pulled out in case of any emergencies (Note: Person should go inside the tank only if the tank is not cleanable from outside. Otherwise tank should be clean from outside only.) 5.4 Ensure that proper ventilation is provided to the person getting into the tank. The tank cover should be open. 5.5 Nonflammable light should be carried along with him when he goes down in to the tank 5.6 In case person cannot go inside the tank due to insufficient space, sue wiper to clean the tank. 5.7 Procedure: 5.7.1 Remove the tank cover. 5.7.2 Drain out fuel remaining in the tank. 5.7.3 Mop the tank with clean cloth to ensure that the tank is cleaned well. 5.7.4 Put the cover again on the tank. 5.7.5 Record the cleaning in the cleaning record format. 5.7.6 Frequency: 5.7.7 Once in two months. 5.7.8 In case of cleaning to be done bio-monthly, a deviation of doing the cleaning after the scheduled date up to 15 days is allowed. 5.7.9 In case of cleaning to be done monthly, a deviation of doing the cleaning after the scheduled date up to 10 days is allowed. 5.7.10 In case of cleaning to be done half-monthly, a deviation of doing the cleaning after the scheduled date up to 7 days is allowed. |
