1.0 OBJECTIVE To lay down a Procedure for cleaning of waste-bin and drain in microbiology department. 2.0 SCOPE This procedure is applicable for cleaning of waste-bin and drain in the Quality Control Department of Microbiology Area. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY • Lab-attendant/Microbiologist : is responsible for cleaning of waste bin and drain as per SOP. • Manager microbiology : is responsible for ensuring that the SOP is followed correctly. 4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY • Department Head 5.0 PROCEDURE 5.1 Safety considerations: 5.1.1 Wear the gloves and mask before cleaning the waste-bin and drain. 5.1.2 Waste-bin and drain h/shall be cleaned daily. 5.1.3 Each waste bin shall be kept in specified place 5.1.4 All waste from the waste-bin shall be sent to scrap solution. To Read this SOP click here SOP for Growth Promotion Test and Inhibition Test of Media. 5.2 Cleaning of waste-bin 5.2.1 Collect the waste-bin from general area washing area and Microbiology Testing Area. 5.2.2 Take out poly bag containing waste material from all the waste-bin. 5.2.3 Wash all the waste-bin with soap solution and washed with tap water. 5.2.4 Sanitize with 70% IPA after that put the poly-bag inside the waste-bin. 5.2.5 After put, the poly-bag inside the waste-bin place the all waste-bin kept in specified place. 5.3 Cleaning and sanitation of drain point. 5.3.1 Clean and flush the drain with water. 5.3.2 Flush out drain with disinfectant available on the day of use. 5.3.3 Cleaning shall be done at the end of working or when required. |
