Preparation and Standardization of 0.01M Disodium edetate |
1.0 Scope: This procedure is applicable for preparation and standardization of 0.01 M disodium edetate solution. 2.0 Apparatus:(0.01M Disodium edetate) 1000ml volumetric flask 100ml beaker 50ml graduated burette 10ml volumetric pipette 100ml volumetric flask 200ml measuring cylinder 500ml conical flask 5ml graduated pipette To read this SOP click here Sulphated Ash Or Residue On Ignition Analysis. 3.0 Reagents: Disodium edetate AR grade Chelometric standard calcium carbonate Diluted Hydrochloric acid Hydroxy naphthol blue Sodium hydroxide To read this SOP click here Thin Layer Chromatography Analysis. 4.0 Preparation: Dissolve 3.70 g of disodium edetate in 1L ml volumetric flask and make up 100ml ultra-pure water/water for injections and mix well. 5.0 Standardization: Accurately weight about 40.0mg of calcium carbonate, previously dried at 110º for 2 hours and cool in desiccators, transfer to a 400ml beaker add 10 ml of water and swirl to form a slurry. add 2ml of dilute HCl. The outer surface of the pipette, and dilute with water about 100 ml. While stirring the soln, add about 30 ml & Add 15 ml of sodium hydroxide TS and 300 mg hydroxy nepthal blue, and continue the titration with the edetate disodium solution to end point blue. 6.0 Calculation: Wt. of CaCO3 X 1000 x Potency M = ———————————————————— 100.09X Vol. cons. of EDTA solution x 100 7.0 Storage: Preserve the solution in clean glass-screw bottles. |
