0.1M Zinc Sulphate |
1.0 Scope: This procedure is applicable for preparation and standardization of 0.1M zinc sulphate solution. 2.0 Apparatus: 2.1 1000 ml and 250 ml volumetric flasks. 2.2 125 ml glass-stoppered, conical flask. 2.3 2.0 ml ,10.0 ml and 50.0 ml volumetric or bulb pipette 2.4 100 ml graduated burette 3.0 Reagents: 3.1 Zinc sulphate AR grade 3.2 0.05 M disodium edetate solution 3.3 Acetic acid–ammonium acetate buffer solution. 3.4 Alcohol AR grade 3.5 Dithizone TS 4.0 Preparation of reagents: Acetic acid ammonium acetate buffer soln.: Dissolve 19.28 g of ammonium acetate in purified water, add 14.3 ml of glacial acetate acid, and dilute with purified water to 250 ml and store in a well fitted transparent glass bottle. Dithizone TS: Dissolve 25.60 mg of dithizone in alcohol, and dilute with alcohol to 100.0 ml and store in a well fitted transparent glass bottle. Titrate with the 0.1 M zinc sulfate solution to a clear, rose-pink colour. 7.0 Calculation: N1x V1 = N2 V2 N2xV2 N1 = —————– V1. Where: N1. = molarity of zinc sulphate soln. V1. = volume of 0.1M zinc sulphate solution in ml N2 = molarity of 0.05 M disodium edetate solution V2 = 10 ml of 0.05 M disodium edetate solution 8.0 Storage: Store in a well fitted transparent glass bottle. |
