Operating Procedure Of Boiler |
1.0 OBJECTIVE: 1.1 To lay down the procedure for the operation of Boiler. 2.0 SCOPE: 2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Operating Procedure of Boiler. 2.2 This Standard Operating Procedure describes how to prepare detailed written instructions that specify how a test/operation or administrative procedure is to be performed. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 3.1 Operating procedure: Concerned technician. 3.2 Implementation of this procedure: Officer Engineering. 3.3 Compliance of the procedure: Head of Engineering department. 4.0 ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 SOP : Standard Operating Procedure 4.2 QA : Quality Assurance 4.3 CC NO : Change Control Number 4.4 PPM : Parts per million To Read this SOP Click Here SOP for Cleaning Operation and Qualification of incubator. 5.0 PROCEDURE: 5.1 BEFORE START UP: 5.1.1 Check the water level in the feed water tank of boiler; tank should be filled with sufficient quantity of water. 5.1.2 Check the fuel level in the fuel storage tank; tank should be filled with the sufficient quantity of fuel. 5.1.3 Check the hardness of feed water, Hardness should be less than 5 ppm. 5.1.4 Check the pH of feed water; pH should be 8.5 to 9.5. 5.1.5 Ensure that the drain valve (BDV-01) of economizer, fuel strainer drain valve (BFD-01) and the coil blow down valves (BBV-01) are closed. 5.2 ON STARTING: 5.2.1 Open the valves on the water supply line (FWV-01) and fuel supply line (FSV-01). 5.2.2 Switch ON the main power supply. Observe that the white control lamp glow ON. 5.2.3 Close the main steam valve (BSV-01) and open the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02) to prevent water entering process steam lines initially. 5.2.4 Put the FILL switch on to fill up the coil 5.2.5 When water starts coming out of the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02) with proper flow then the unit can be fired. Observe at this time all the red lamps are off and only the white CONTROL lamp is on. 5.2.6 Put the FIRE switch on. Blower, fuel pump and water pump will be start. Sparking between burner electrodes begins, and fuel will be sprayed after about 6-10 seconds. This “pre-purging” is done to drive out any combustible, and heating of the water in the coil starts. 5.2.7 Green BURNER ON lamp will be glow, fuel spray starts and flame will be established. Sparking will stops when flame is established and heating of water in the coil starts. 5.2.8 In about 3-5 minutes steam will be start to coming out of the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02). After pressure starts increasing, open the main steam valve (BSV-01) gradually and close the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02) simultaneously. 5.3 RUNNING ATTENTION: 5.3.1 Check water softness after every four hours of operation of the boiler or more frequently, if required. If water in the soft water service tank is found to be hard (More than 5 PPM) at any time during the operation of the boiler, stop of the boiler immediately. Drain the soft water service tank. Regenerate the water softener. Fill the tank with fresh soft water and then restart the boiler. The boiler should never be made to run with the hard feed water. 5.3.2 Whether any excessive sound is coming from the motors or elsewhere. 5.3.3 Check that all the valves and joints are leak-tight. 5.3.4 That proper water flow and the fuel flow are maintained. 5.3.5 Should be checked that the flame is steady and golden in colour. Reddish flame indicates that air supply is insufficient. 5.3.6 That the exhaust from the chimney should be almost colorless. 5.3.7 Check that the boiler stops smoothly without excessive vibrations or smoke. 5.3.8 That the fuel gases are not leaking through the sight glass cum pressure release port or the soot cleaning access door. 5.4 PROCEDURE FOR STOPPING: 5.4.1 Close the steam stop valve (BSV-01) fully. The pressure switch will be cut off the boiler. 5.4.2 Put the FIRE switch off. 5.4.3 Open the coil blow down valve fully and blow down the boiler. Measure blow down time, blow down time should be not more than 1 minute. Close the blow down valve (BBV-01) and open the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02) fully. Drain the economizer by keeping its drain valve open (BDV-01) till clear water starts coming out. 5.4.4 Put the FILL switch on and fill up the coil with water for the next day’s operation (filling the coil with soft and treated water minimize oxidation and rusting). When steam temperature indication falls below 90 degree Centigrade, put the FILL switch off. Close the auxiliary steam valve (BSV-02). 5.4.5 Put off the electric main switch. 5.4.6 Clean any dripped oil, water, etc. from the unit. 5.4.7 Close the outlet valves of soft water service tank (BST-01) and fuel oil service tank (BFT-01). |
